Unsubscribe Page

Unsubscribe Page

You must have seen the unsubscribe button on YouTube, which appears in front of the channel name. But what does unsubscribe do? To understand this, let us first understand what subscribe does. When you subscribe to a YouTube channel or the newsletter of a website, you constantly receive updates about everything that is happening on the website. Just like YouTube sends you a notification about a new video that a channel you have subscribed to has uploaded, eCommerce websites send a newsletter and information regarding their new products and offer via email to everyone who has subscribed to their website.

When a user clicks on the unsubscribe link that appears at the foot of the email that the eCommerce website sends them, a page appears on the screen of the user and this page is called the unsubscribe page. This page basically attempts at reconfirming whether the user is sure about unsubscribing from the e-mail services of the website.

Unsubscribing basically means getting your name removed from the mailing list so that the website can no longer send you emails regarding their new launches and updates. As the owner of a business, you must note that when a customer unsubscribes from your email services, it directly affects your reputation as a sender. If the number of customers who unsubscribe from your email services reaches a certain number, you may not be able to send emails anymore.

A user generally unsubscribes the email services from a company, when his inbox is bombarded with large volumes of irrelevant content and it overwhelms his inbox. Thus, when you are trying to communicate with your customers via email, you must remember to make your emails count the interest of your customers, otherwise, most of your customers will end up unsubscribing your emails.

The Unsubscribe page is a page for your receivers to rethink their decision of unsubscribing, it is a chance to re-engage with your customers and request them for feedback telling you why they are unsubscribing. The Unsubscribe page is to confirm the intention of your user to opt-out from receiving emails from you.

The feedback that you collect from your users on the unsubscribe page can be used to make your emails more effective so that more of your customers do not end up unsubscribing your emails.
